Lost Network Driver, don't know what to look for
Hello, I was having trouble connecting a computer to my router, and it was the only computer that was having trouble connecting, so I though maybe something was wrong with that computers settings.
maybe a bad idea, but i decided to uninstall the driver for the ethernet adapter, thinking well Plug n Play will simply prompt me to reinstall a new one. I was wrong. The "Found New Hardware" wizard fails to find a driver. And Device Manager lists it as "ethernet network controller" with of course the yellow ! by it. i don't remember what model of the adapter is, although I remember it stating that it was made by NVIDIA. I've searched NVIDIA's website, but i have no idea what i should be looking for. I've downloaded a few drivers from there that didn't seem to be recognized. Other Info: I'm using windows XP home edition SP2. I have a modem through which the computer gets internet. i'm using the computer in question right now through usb. The modem has USB and Ethernet. The modem installs a driver for USB. The computer is connected through ethernet to a router, which is connected to the modem. The router works, have used it with several other machines. The router does not have a usb port. i don't want to have to open this computer for any reason. thanks for any help. right now i'm just trying to get the computer to recognize my ethernet adaptor as having drivers. then i'll work on the router issue.
