OS: compaq presario 6000

Please Help
I have a compaq presario 6000 and i think the motherboard might be DMI or O7DOH i dont know . But i accidentally deleted my soundmax digital and now i ahve no sound. whenever i try to replace it, it says driver not found reboot system. PLEASE HELP. oh and by the way i dont want ot buy an software or anything so it needs to be all for free:)

The drivers you need would be here http://h10061.www1.hp.com/ccsearch/s...x=2&submit.y=1 Select the model on the next page select (software & drivers) under product quick links, the next page select Your OS then look for the audio drivers.
