dv6000 fresh start...too fresh. HPsite=no help

So i work at the OIT at school, got a dv6000 in here which in the end was unfixable so we did a reformat with media center xp, the HP "Operating System CD" and the "Application and Driver Recovery DVD". Well... what drivers did it even install!?
The lan doesn't recognize, there's only the 1394 adapter in net adapters, with like 10 things in other devices that don't work, but aren't easily recognized
Most drivers on there are 2001, but nothing on the HP site as far as internet drivers or even the "hp update" driver would help or get anything newer than 2001. At this point I just want to figure out the internet so it will recognize this ethernet, and let me download the rest instead of manual computer-to-computer...
ugh... suggestions?

sorry this is long..
