slow data transfer p5ld2-vm
hi there
i am using Asus P5LD2-VM motherboard and core 2 duo 2.0 processer with 2gb of ram. the problem i am facing that whenever i transfer data from any memory stick for data around 580 MB it takes approx 12min to transfer to my computer but if same amount of data if i tranaser from memory stick to another computer which run on P-IV processer 1.80...it takes around 2min max... plz help ...how can i increase the transfer rate to my computer. |

Current transfer rates for USB Stick memories is around 3 MB/s. Using simple math that says it should take about 193~ seconds to move that 580MB to the PC. That's with a USB 2.0 port (400 Mbps). If your USB Stick is USB 1.1 compliant or the port you are using is USB v1.1? Then the max transfer speed is 1 MB/s. "HIGH" speed versions of USB sticks (in general) up that transfer speed to 10-30 MB/s. They are much more expensive though.
If you have a USB v2.o "stick" and your USB Port is v2.0 compliant? Then I'd start checking to see if the system is supporting the USB v2.0 Standard, i.e. check the Device Manager and see if it's reporting a USB 2.0 Root Hub. HTH Bill |
