USB driver prob...
Hi folks, hope you can help me here.
I have a Sony Vaio pcv rs520 running windows XP with SP2 and have been getting the message" This device can perform faster with a enhanced usb controller", when plugging devices to my usb ports. My system is originally equipped with USB 2.0 and not 1.0. I have read and tried the solutions I have found till I want to bleed from my temples! #1. The device MGR shows no ENHANCED controllers. I have uninstalled and reinstalled them, to no avail. #2. I have checked the BIOS settings and any mention of USB is NON EXISTENT. #3. I have tried to update the drivers but, have no windows XP disc but, DO have the Sony recovery DVD and dont know if I can pull a driver from it? #4. I downloaded the 865PE chipset driver from Sony and it hung during setup. ..I suspect that service pack 2 is causing a problem since, the agreement for the chipset driver mentioned having "windows XP (original)" installed and, made no mention of SP2 . Anyone have any ideas on this? I sure appreciate your being here to help, THANKS! |
