"Raid 0 drive failing" ...or is it?
Got the above message from Intel in reference to the second of two SATA 10,000 rpm drives in a 72 gig raid 0 config which has never before had problems (my C drive - very fast). Decided to test the raid array using Gibson's Spinrite Disk First Aid which boots off its own floppy and then does a very low level bit flip process twice on each bit to check read/write and then displays a report. The display came back with no errors.
Doesn't that suggest that the problem is not in the hardware, but rather in the driver for the array? I don't want to replace the drive, for both financial and too-much-hassle reasons, if the problem is simply a software glitch. Tnx in advance, doubly so if I can get an answer that lets me resolve this problem before the Superbowl starts tommorow. Jim |
