Hi there, I have used this forum time over to help solve various issues and have been very impressed with members in the past. I am having an issue and need the input of others.
My Situation: New acer extensa 7620z laptop, came with Vista Home prem: just loaded Win Xp, for some reason I am having issues with the Realtek HD driver, it won't install properly and keeps giving me a error code 10 device cannot start. sofar this is what i have tried. Acer europe support drivers for Realtek 5324, WDmr 185 and 184, manually pointing to inf files, installing everest which sees Realtek HD audio as device, and none of the drivers will work. I have also updated the os, installed dx10 and the Uaa kb patch. I have also tried removing all installed drivers and reinstalling with the audio first, or chipset drivers first, still no luck. yellow exclamaion mark! on device and error code 10 I did this np with my hp laptop and even hp was great to deal with and sent me the ftp for all the winxp drivers, acer on the other hand are useless they didn't even tell me the the european site had xp drivers.. Please let me know what i am doing wrong, I'd like to think of myself as computer savy but this issue has made me re-consider. Please comment or ask questions. |

By now probably this is solved, but having same experience with Acer support (useless) this may guide others to deal with this laptop model. I wanted not just convert to XP but install dual boot. All the drivers I used from European Acer site had no problem with sound card (used 84 Mbit file from there Audio_Realtek_v5.10.0.5423_XP). The only problem I run to was with the video controller - when originally installed the driver for it from European site - it blacked out my screen. Try twice until I decided not to install this driver at all - it works fine on generic so I don't miss it...
Europe drivers you will find at http://support.acer-euro.com/drivers...k/ex_7620.html |
