Re: Halfway There
Hi praglen,
Is this the file you downloaded (for XP SP2)? If it is not XP SP2 let me know! http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/di...%20or%20higher This is a self extractinging file. Download to the desktop and double click on it to open. Follow the wizard for the options you want. You can delete this file from the desk top if you wish or burn it to CD for save keeping (117MB File) and then delete it from the desk top. Let me know how you make out. Thanks, Bill |

Re: Halfway There
yes, I did, but a screen appears saying Windows does not recognize the program and directs me either to the internet or a list of programs...I can give you the exact screen, but it's common when you can't open a file..

I have asked for assistance. I do however have a question. What is the operating system you have? The link I provided was for XPsp2 and the file size is 117MB. If you have a different Operating system, please let me know. The file you said you downloaded is only 79.2 MB. Is this file for XPsp2? (I do not know where you got this file.) Thanks, Bill |

Re: Halfway There
Hi praglen, I'll try to give an assist here. This is the link to the file that Team Member BCComp referred you to. It is 117 mb, I downloaded it and it extracted correctly. Have you tried downloading from this link? It's possible that the file you downloaed is not complete or is a different file. Mike

I think the clue to this problem lies in the name .. it's .part .. that means it hasn't finished downloading yet .. you'll either have to start a new download and hope that it continues on from where it finished off or grab the whole file again .. Best to use a download manager for files of that size since if the download is very slow or you need to stop before finishing, the manager will allow you to pick up again from where it left off. best to tell it to pause before exiting the software & shutting down. Firefox has plug-ins that do this for you (like flashget) Not sure what IE has .. it never used to have anything ..

Re: Halfway There
O.K.I downloaded Flashget, but tried to follow their instructions to download files, etc.
This is what they said: Extended IE context menu(This feauter only support by IE) FlashGet adds two options to Internet Explorer's right-click context menu. They are: Download All By FlashGet Selecting this will download all the links within the page. This allows really simple one-click downloads of the files on a page. A box will pop up entitled Select URL which will give you the option to exclude any links you don't want downloaded. Download Using FlashGet Selecting this will download only the single link you right-clicked on. I couldn't find an IE context menu. What next? |

Re: Halfway There
What is keeping you from downloading the file through a normal web browser? Have you tried to download the file again? Mike

Re: Halfway There
I am not aware as to whether Flasget runs in IE .. it is a Firefox plugin as I said earlier. I realise that some people might not want to change over to another web browser .. I was the same, so I know all the arguments I used
Flashget was an example .. it's free and there are other similar programs / plugins that should work with IE that are Free too .. I used to use Download Accelerator (DAP) still do if I am using IE web browser but I don't know if there's a FREE version ..

Re: [SOLVED] Halfway There
Some of the firewall programs, like Lavasoft, bring up questionable programs(Ethernet Attack) and web sites trying to enter my system. When I block them, sometimes this keeps my Wireless connection from getting on the Internet. And don't think I haven't tried to uninstall Lavasoft(in favor of another program which may NOT block my internet access). No matter where I go - Search, Add/Remove Programs, etc., I can't uninstall it!
Also, O tried System Restore (I have Windows XP SP2), but no matter which date I select, it says can't restore... |
