CD burning

I have a Sony Vaio with Windows XP Service Pack 2 professional.
The CD driver appears to be QSI CD-ROM SCR-242

I can listen to any CD inserted into Drive E but cannot copy any file, or picture to a CD.

A window appears to read "Please insert a disk in Drive E" and when I do, the window does not close. My CD driver does not seem to recognize a disk.

I do not have this problem if I insert music or DVD for listening or viewing.

Can anyone suggest what I must do to be able to transfer/copy files or pictures to a CD?

Thanks,

Kenneth

Re: CD burning

Thank you so much for your kind advice.
I did what you suggested and everything now works beautifully.

I am sorry for having taken so long to:pray: get back to you but it was only today, May 4th, that I found your reply to my question.

Again, thanks

Kenneth

You recommended a solution which I followed and everything worked well...until now.

Can you suggest what I must do to once again be able to transfer/copy files or pictures to a CD?

Thanks,

Kenneth

Re: [SOLVED] CD burning

try the filters again first

Re: [SOLVED] CD burning

Thanks.

The upper and lower filters were removed when you suggested some months ago, and no longer appear when I open the registry.

Do you have any other suggestions?

Re: [SOLVED] CD burning

try cleaning the laser either with a cleaning disk or if you are confident enough manually
try the drive in another computer to see if it is the same
