I had this error when I tried to install drivers on XP system from CD. Went to Trust.com and downloaded their version 3 driver - same problem. Then I downloaded their old driver (version 1.08 I think) which installed fine. Then installed version 3 drivers from CD straight on top without unistalling the old one. Everything works fine and error did not recur. Hope this helps.
