DVD Drive Help

When I first got my comp. (Packard Bell ixtreme) the DVD drive was working fine. For the last two years though it has not. I noticed that on the properties tag the DVD drive was configured as a CD Drive

Don't know how that happened. Anyway i figured that by uninstalling it and reinstalling it it would go back to its default settings. So, I uninstalled it via Device Manager but then there wasn't an option to reinstall it. Does anyone know how I might be able to reinstall it.

P.S. Note that I am not a techy and therefore will probably not understand any replies that are not well explained.

Update: The DVD Drive seems to have reappeared but is still configured as a CD Drive. Anyone know why this is or how to solve it.
