problems with the 8600 GT oc

Hello from Finland! =)

I just bought this card and noticed that it's running poorly. In benchmarks it doesn't even get up to minimun criteria and in games I can't even play in fullscreen mode. I have installed all drivers correct and checked the devicemanager for faults without results. I'll put the computer specs here so maybe somebody could help me or give a few pointers to solve the problem...

Procesor: AMD Athlon 64 4000+ 2,6 GHz
Motherboard: MCP61SM-AM
Nvidia GeForce 8600 GT overclocked 512mb PCI-E
RAM: 4GB PC2 5300 (1gb * 4)

THANK YOU!

Re: problems with the 8600 GT oc

Alright now I've installed a new PSU with over 550W capacity on peak preformance. I should be enough as I have only one CDRW and one Tb HDD connected with SATA2. I also bought a new CPU Athlon 64 X2 6000+. I've checked everything and the graphics card is still slow considering the cards overclocked GPU and MEM... Could this be the motherboard's fault as I have some random Acer motherboard?

Re: problems with the 8600 GT oc

You might need a higher quality PSU with more amps on the +12V line. Enter your full system specs into this power calculator, and add 30% to the total to allow for PSU inefficiency.

Did you install the motherboard chipset drivers and the AMD dual core optimizer?

Re: problems with the 8600 GT oc

According to the text it has a maximum of 38A on the +12V line.. I think it's enough as the calculator gave a result of about 320W... The motherboard chipset is installed but I have not tried the optimizer.. gunna go ahead and try that one now.. see what happens..
