Help...Sound sometimes!

I only have sound sometimes, I noticed my itunes was saying it couldnt detect audio config. and no start up theme was playing etc etc. So I checked in system devices and I noticed my Vinyl Ac 97 Codec Combo Driver has a yellow exclamation mark next to it. I downloaded a new one and my sound worked again...then stopped...so I (I know its not technical ha) I literally banged my laptop..and sound started again!! Could there be something loose inside my laptop? Except now the Vinyl Ac Codec driver wont load up and its got a yellow exclamation mark next to it again. So could it e a conflict? Other devices showing under the same device category are Audio Codecs, Legacy Audio Drivers, Legacy Video Capture Devices, Media Control Devices, Uni Modem Full Duplex Audio Device annd Video Codecs.... HELP? :(

Re: Help...Sound sometimes!

Remove it from Device Manager

Click Start
Run
Type in devmgmt.msc
Uninstall the driver
Reboot 2 times
Reinstall the driver from the download

Get back to me if it is working or not.

Re: Help...Sound sometimes!

Hi, I tried what you suggested...didn't work. I don't even have an audio icon in my sys tray. I still have a yellow exclamation mark over the driver in device manager- it says "this device cannot start code 10". And in sound and audio devices it says "No audio device".

I have no idea what the problem could be, could it be in conflict with something else? Or could there actually be something disconnected inside my laptop?- which may make sense because sound started again the other day when I hit my laptop (:S) before it stopped working again.
Help? :(

Re: Help...Sound sometimes!

It sounds like the device is failing. If your manufacturer still has you under warranty then you can call there support lines and have it replaced
