hi, i have a bit of a problem with my drivers...ok i restore my compute with the restore CD it came with my computer after the restore was done it said something like STATIC BOOT NEEDS TO BE MODIFY..whats that mean? also my eternet and drivers dont work that for i cant go in the internet because when i plug my modem in the eternet it dont read my ip address and when i plug my ipod or a usb cable in the usb slots nothing happens...i went to device manager and looked at everything works..how do i fix ?

have you re entered your isp's settings after the restore
did you get a driver disk along with the retsore disk
you need to post any error message exactly as it comes up

no didnt install isp...but befor i restore it with the cd everything work fine...some told me to restore the OS..were do i go and do that ??? thank you

right click on the connection icon in the taskbar and choose properties
go into the tc/ip settings
and set it to obtain the ip address automatically

thanks...ill try that..also how do i enable my usb to work? when i plug my usb mouse it dont read it or anything..were do i go to fix it? thank you

do you have sp2 installed
usb and plug and play enabled in the bios

no were do i go and do that? how do i know if my sp2 is installed? also were do i go and enable usb in the bios how do i get to it? thanks

control panel /system
the box that comes up will say what version of the operating system is installed
to enter the bios look on the bottom of the post screens and it will say press such and such a key to enter the bios

oh yeah also i remember that
when i plug my ipod then turned off the computer then back on without removing the usb cable that connected to the ipod thats when i lost the driver because i took the desktop to work and i download the usb drive and put it in my computer it wouldnt load it...the man at my work said the maybe it got short when i plug the usb with ipod.. is it possible that could happen??

it not unusual for it to short out
in the device manager click on view at the top and show hidden devices
remove all usb listed
turn the computer off
unplug all usb plugs
reboot twice
replug in your usb plugs

ok didnt find it in hidden device but i open my computer and install a usb card and it showed up on device manager but still dont work...do i have to get one thats comptable with my emachine? what should i get? also my usb card smells funny like burnt toast...is that mean it got short?

if it is usb2 check high speed usb is enabled in the bios and also pnp

ok did that but still nothing ... is possible the main cpu board got damage too when my usb got short some how? it still works fine but still no usb drives that work.. what usb drive works for a emachine?? and how much to they cost? just the ones for usb not thoes fancy ones with gaming...

the sp2 is install... as for my usb card i dont know what brand its the man form my work put it on for me...but my usb drive dont work still and can go online...dose it matter what usb card it has to be? thank you

ok got my usb drive working and ethernet but the only usb drive that works is the dynex the one i bought and the usb on front still dont work and the ms card dont work..also i cant log online it says contact the person that manage ip address...what setting to i need to do so i can get back online..im using a modem..thank you

how do i go there? also i went to run and type cmd and type ipconfig it says my ip not connect .. what setting sould i have? also after i restore my computer it said boot static needs to be modify ...will the effect going online? thanks
