USB ports work, but can't use USB devices!?
Recently, my laptop has only been able to read my mouse and flash drive but nothing else, so I looked online and it said that re-installing the USB ports might solve this problem. So I un-installed the ports, but now whenever I boot Windows up to re-install, it asks me to locate the driver- I tell it to look in Windows/inf, but for some reason, it never detects the driver(s)!
Furthermore, I copied USB files (usbport, usbsys, etc) from a friend's comp and used it on mine and it installed just fine. However, when I plug in my USB mouse, it detects the mouse and I can use it for just a few seconds as the window gives me a pop up about "Human Interface Devices". Right after that, it tells me that the device is ready to use, but I can't use it! Any help would be greatly appreciated! :) |
