error message?? please help!

I just got done building my computer and about a couple hours after being on it, an error message came up saying:

A Problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.

DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

If this is the first time you have seen this stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow theese steps:

Check to make sure any new hardware or software is properly installed. If this is a new installation, ask your hardware or software manufacturer for any windows updates you might need.

If problems continue, disable or remove any newly installed hardware or software. Disable BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing. If you need to use safe mode to disable or remove components, restart your computer, press F8 to select Advanced startup options, and then select safe mode.

Technical information:

*** STOP: 0x000000D1 (0x00000008, 0x00000002, 0x00000000, 0xB8A069A3

Re: error message?? please help!

I think this has something to do with the nvida firewall, this is installed with the chipset drivers from you motherboard cd, look in add/remove programs for it and uninstall it.

It could be named nvida NV or something similar

Re: error message?? please help!

Click that and you'll get more options.
Remove all Nvidia drivers (except Display if you're using a Nvidia video card)
Then reboot the system and when the New Hardware Wizard opens up hit Cancel.
Load the Driver CD that came with your motherboard and install the drivers again. When you asked if you want to install the Nvidea Firewall say NO.

I believe this will take care of your problem. Post back and let us know.

Re: error message?? please help!

hmm..
i'm not really sure if it asked me if i wanted to download the firewall or not?
i put in the cd and the only thing it said was new hardware found and then it started downloading AMD Cool'n'Quiet Driver, Nvidia chipset driver program, SoundMAX ADI1988 Audio Driver, Silicon Image SATA Driver, and ASUS AI Remote.

If it helps any, i have the following components:
ASUS M2N32-SLI Premium Vista edition motherboard
AMD 64x 6000+ cpu
XFX GeFORCE 8600 GT Graphics card

I left my computer on overnight to see if it would do it again and so far it hasn't.
