Ok i am good at graphics drivers, and sound drivers. But im not good at what order to install them in nor am i good at installing updated bios or chipset drivers. How do you do these things and in what order?

Re: Driver installation
Don't think there's a specific order in which you should install your video and sound drivers. Always begin with the motherboard/chipset drivers when you're setting up a new system. And of course the sata/raid drivers during the XP install if needed (sometimes not needed, depending on the mobo). It's always a good idea to download all the latest driver packages you'll need and copy them on an usb key or on a CD before you start the installation.
As for flashing the bios or upgrading the firmwares, the best rule is "if it ain't broken, don't fix it". If there's a power outage while you're flashing your bios, you can kiss your motherboard goodbye, same goes for dvd-drive firmwares and the like. If you really need to flash the bios, use the manufacturer's provided boot floppy and carefully read the instructions. Last edited by justpassingby; 05-23-2007 at 06:53 PM. |
