installing printer trouble
I have had my Gateway - (windows XP Professional) computer cleaned out and reinstated and still I cannot install a printer on my computer. In fact I have two brand new printers, an Epson Stylus CX6000 and a HP photosmart 3210 - neither will install on my computer. A message comes up saying that all drivers are disabled- incompatible with windows will cause window instability. The latest is with the Epson - it cannot detect printer when USB is connected to it and then the installation freezes and I must turn off the computer from the plug. Help!!!!! It can't possibly be this hard!!!! Longislandjoy

Re: installing printer trouble
Hello and Welcome to TSF.
Please remove any printer software that you may have installed though add/remove programs. Then go into control panel, printers and faxes and remove the printers from there if they exist. Make sure that the printer is not connected to the PC, and reboot. Once the PC has completely booted back up, disable your antivirus and insert the installation CD that came with CX6000 and begin the installation. If you get a popup from windows stating that something like this: The software you are installing for this hardware: has not passed Windows Logo testing to verify its compatibility with Windows XP. Click "continue anyway". Follow the instructions and do not plug in the usb cable from the printer until asked to do so. Please post back with the results. Matt |
