Updated XP SP1a on MS update to SP2. After reboot no sound. I have an Audigy sound card installed. Creative test failed as drivers for Wave,MIDI,Mixer,DirectSound & Mixer Settings Check are gone. Went to motherboard homesite, got audio drv, no avail. Been trying stuff for 3 days, now including Gateway & Microsoft techs. All are stumped!
Reformatted 4x's, updated drv.s, extracted to C;Cabs, uninstalled, re-installed Audigy, took card out, couldn't get onboard sound. What is going on here? SP2 has pooped on my joy! Can anybody help out there? Have: OS=WinXP Home Ed. System=AWARD System Board=Foxconn 661 MXPro with SIS661 chipset/ Socket 478 BIOS=Phoenix Tech. v.2.2 Processor=Intel~3082 Mhz. RAM=1 Gb. DDR Creative Audigy Sound Card Nvidea e-GeForce FX 5500 256 Mb. AGP Thanks people, Bald E. Guy Last edited by Bald E. Guy; 05-17-2007 at 11:52 PM. |

Re: WinXP SP@ blew out my sound!
Have you tried wiping the hard disk, reset BIOS to default settings, clean install of Windows w/SP1 with Audigy card in slot, then update to SP2, install motherboard drivers, then install sound drivers, in that order? If so, and still no joy, then you may have a hardware problem, probably with the board.
