Radeon 9000 Pro[RESOLVED]

Alright i remember posting this but cant remember where. I have a Radeon 9000 pro graphics card and i remember someone telling me that from a certain catalyst point on the drivers didnt work for the 9000 series does anyone know what catalyst i need so that it doesnt kill my comp?

Edit: Well i feel i should state my problem. This was a problem i fixed before but cant remember how. No matter what version of the drivers i get from the ati site my video card runs slow (incredibly). Someone please help me out. As i state before i remember someone telling me some of the newer catalyst didnt work for the 9000 pro. If thats true i dont know where to find out which catalyst it is, nor do i know where to get it if it is earlier than 6.1 catalyst.

Re: Radeon 9000 Pro

Hello and Welcome to TSF. Windows XP MV...What does the MV stand for?

Latest stable drivers for XP

"If your card is pre-9500, the latest stable version that supports your model is Catalyst v6.5"

Catalyst v6.12 - Windows XP
Catalyst v6.5 - Windows XP

Re: Radeon 9000 Pro

i would recommend installing the latest display driver and uninstalling the catalyst software. i have an ATI x800xt and i found that when i tricked around with the catalyst settings i found some software crashing or running very poorly. since i like to let the software running control how it is meant to be displayed, i found that catalyst wasn't needed.

Re: Radeon 9000 Pro

I installed the catalyst on my computer once and quickly removed it cause id doesnt work on my comp cause of my MV which stands for midget version. Long story i really shouldnt explain on a public forum.

But, thanks for the help i shall install the drivers for 6.12 and see if it fixes my comp (6.5 made everything run skippy but 6.11 may of worked and it may of been the sound drivers i installed but i fixed that)

Re: Radeon 9000 Pro

So i dled the catalyst 6.12 and it wont install on my computer cause it doesnt recognize my OS (tee hee) but the 6.11 didnt work other the problem still persists. I am having video reactions in more than just gaming. Prior to my attempt to get UT2k4 working (it was crashing) by updating drivers, my computer was fine. I reiterate from the first post that i believe the 6th gen catalyst doesnt work for the Radeon 9000 pro.

Re: Radeon 9000 Pro

Well i went to the ati site and surfed around some more on thier help stuff and actually found something that worked. I went into Add/Remove Programs and removed all the ATI stuff on my comp. Restarted than installed 6.11 with catalyst than removed catalyst in add/remove and it runs great now!
