Reinstalled Windows 2000 - lost ethernet, soundcard drivers
Hi all,
I just reformatted my hard disk and reinstalled Windows 2000 Pro. Now I can't connect to the internet thru my router and I can't play any audio because I haven't installed the driver for my Multimedia Audio Controller and my Ethernet Controller. Silly me didn't record down the brand and model of my sound card and ethernet card before I wiped out my hard disk. Is there anyway I can find out this information? I tried opening up my PC (it's a DIY build by the computer shop guy several years ago) to see if there's any brand logo on the cards. I found out my sound card and ethernet cards are all integrated with the motherboard (ie, there is no additional card slotted in) and I can't see what brand name my motherboard is. Is there any way out of this mess? Thanks for the advice. |

Re: Reinstalled Windows 2000 - lost ethernet, soundcard drivers
Ok problem solved. I found a CD for a VIA Chipset Series and figured that was for my motherboard. Although it didn't contain the sound card and ethernet drivers, I googled for VIA sound cards and VIA ethernet controllers and found the right ones.

Re: [RESOLVED] Reinstalled Windows 2000 - lost ethernet, soundcard drivers
I just did the exact same thing except it was with Windows XP.
I have a Dell Dimension 4600 and I got the driver for ethernet off of Dell's site but the driver for the soundcard doesn't work does anybody have any ideas? |
