Chicken or the Egg?
Alrighty, I want to build a PC from the ground up, I've spent well over $6,000 on parts and now before I begin (because I really don't want to screw up), how am I supposed to install anything? Isn't it true that for anything to run, it needs a driver? And to install a driver you need a hard drive and a CD/Floppy drive...but oh! How do I install the drivers for the CD/Floppy drive to begin with? This question has been floating around in my head for the longest time, any help would be greatly appreciated.

![]() Once you have assembled all the parts in the 'jigsaw', the Motherboard is "intelligent" enough to have the bare basics to recognise the components that are connected to it. (This is commonly referred to as the BIOS (meaning Built In Operating System.) The Bios is integrated into the Motherboard, and therefore no other basic Drivers are required at this stage. Once you have got everything ready, here is where you might need "other" Drivers, which usually come with the manufacturer's Manuals etc for the particular components. You will need to read these thoroughly before continuing. There are some very interesting guides and Articles on various related subjects in our TSF Articles Section...just click on my Team Banner and you will be linked to them. Enjoy your new project..should you need more advice, or you have any other queries/concerns, just post back here and either myself or one of the many other Team Members will gladly assist. Good Luck with it! Kind Regards,
