Pin graphics adapters uncompatible w/ directx? Help?!

"Failed to find any DirectX 9.0c compatible graphics adapters in this system! Please make sure you have a DirectX 9.0c compatible graphics adapter and have installed the latest drivers provided by the manufacturer. The application will now terminate."

This is all I get when I try to play the Sims 2.
I can provide all the info I know / can think of.

My expansion packs:
University.
Business.
Nightlife.
Pets.
Holiday [My plain Sims 2 game.]

My graphics adapter is:
Intel(R) 82915G/GV/910GL Express Chipset Family.

My monitor is a:
Plug and play monitor

My screen refresh rate is:
60 hertz

My "DPI setting"
is Normal size (96 DPI)

My Screen Resolution:
1280 by 768 pixels

& My color quality is:
Highest (32 bit)

I'm on a gateway Windows XP.
I have an Olevia screen.
[it's a tv/computer split.]

We have the most up-to-date DirectX 9.0c, as that is not the problem.

All I need to know is if I need a new monitor type, graphics adapter - what.

Have you tried updating your graphics driver for this video card?
