Audio Driver Problem - Unknown Driver??
I'll try to explain as best as I can:
I recently got the blue screen of death and reformatted. I had Windows Media Center to begin with but it wouldn't even boot in safe mode, so I put Windows XP Home on my computer and saved everything that I needed on an external hard drive. I cleared everything and kept the Windows XP. Everything was fine for about a day, but then some driver started messing up. It won't let me uninstall it and NOTHING is working...I mean NOTHING. It shows up as "Unknown Device" in the device manager and my computer keeps trying to update it. It just won't go away!! Any advice would be helpful. I'll also supply any information needed to get this fixed... I'm going crazy without my music constantly playing. :[ This is what the error says when I try to play anything in Windows Media Player: 0xC00D11BA: Cannot play the file Windows Media Player cannot play the file because there is a problem with your sound device, such as a sound card or sound controller. You may encounter this error message for one of the following reasons: Your sound device is in use by another program. Quit other programs that may be using your sound device, and then try to play the file again. Your sound device is not functioning properly. To troubleshoot the problem, see the Sound Troubleshooter in Windows Help or refer to your sound device's documentation. You do not have a sound device installed on your computer. Install a sound device, and then try to play the file again. Error ID = 0xC00D11BA, Condition ID = 0x00000000 I posted on another forum site, but it's taking forever. The moderator asked me for this information as well... Thanks much! |

Re: Audio Driver Problem - Unknown Driver??
I also thought this might help -
Whenever my computer tries to update the software for the hardware I have, the information bubble comes up at the bottom talking about the Microsoft WINMM WDM Audio Compatibility Driver. |
