DVD-RW problem
Wasn't sure where to post this, apologies if it's in the wrong place.
Managed to get myself a DVD-RW a few days ago, and got some DVD+RW discs. So Basically I try to burn a movie (Nero told me I needed to use Nero Vision first, so I did so, it burnt it to disc but when I put the disc in the DVD player, it takes a minute and then doesn't load anything, tried it in my mates DVD too which is much newer and doesn't work in his either). So I checked up another site, it said about using Nero Vision to convert the .avi file and stuff and then using Nero or whatever to take the files and burn them, so I even tried that, but still the disc doesn't load. So in other words, am I doing something wrong? Could anybody give me some advice or even a small step by step guide to trying to get this to work. I've waited ages to finally get a DVD-RW, and now that I do I cant even manage to get stuff onto a disc and play. I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong or what though. Any help is much appreciated. |

Re: DVD-RW problem
What is the file extentions of what you are burning, .avi, .mpeg, iso, bin-cue
etc.....If you are trying to play a .avi file windows media player does not support. You will have to go out and find extra codecs that allow you to use different types of formats. K-lite codec pack is a good one, think there is a free version, coles codec pack is excellent, may be free verson as well. good luck

Re: DVD-RW problem
It's an .AVI file but the thing is, I'm not trying to play it on Windows Media Player. I cant play the DVD when it's burnt on my PC, but it wont let me play it on any DVD player for some reason, so I'm guessing I'm doing something wrong. Thank's for the help mate, anymore would be greatly appreciated.

Re: DVD-RW problem
Are you trying to play this on a television/dvd player. If so it is very possible
that your dvd player does not support .avi. The best form would be a .mpg.,as most dvd players support that, alot of varibles. Windows media player will play .avi if you get the proper codecs as mentioned.
