[resolved]Can't find driver

I can't get windows to see this DVD drive. Device manager sees it, I uninstall the device and reinstall it to make sure the driver is not still corrupt. I need to find a newer driver than the one windows keeps findin cause it is worthless. I'm about to junk this drive and put in a new one. This is the drive HL-DT-ST DVD+-RW GWA4164B . Any help will be much appreciated, I am striking out everywhere I go to find drivers for this thing, even on Dells support site.

It won't run the install for it cause it can't see the drive to begin with. Device manager is the only program that can see the drive, and it still says it has a corrupt driver. Any suggestions on how to get the driver installer to see the drive? I appreciate your help by the way.

Hmm what happens when you uninstall and reinstall the current driver? is it still corrupt?

Have you also tried the "update driver" option or "rollback driver" option in device manager?

Update driver tells me there is no better driver available than the one I have. Roll back driver tells me I can't because I don't have a backup. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the device numerous times by different methods, still reinstalls the corrupt driver when I Add New Hardware for the drive.
