Firewire Driver Panasonic DVD recorder
Hi, please can you help me!!!!
I have an external DVD recorder (DMR-E20) which has a firewire input (DV). When I connect it to my Windows XP it just loads as an AV/C subunit. Then I cannot output Video/Audio to the device. If I connect other DV devices they are recognised and I can output to DV Panasonic say I need to but thier Motion Studio DV 4.7 software. But If I can find a driver which allows me to output my Video/Audio to DV then I can use the DVD recorder. I do not need to be able to control the Panasonic recorder remotly, I am happy to mannually put it into record mode. (When I connect other cameras there is an amout of remote control available via the PC) Thank you Roy |

Could be wrong since I don't use Firewire -- but I assumed external firewire devices don't need a manufacturer's driver. It's the firewire card in your PC that needs a driver, and even that's invariably an internal Microsoft one. Once that's installed (which it obviously is) Windows recognises all compatible devices that are plugged into it.
What some external firewire devices do need when connected to a PC, however, is some application software (not strictly a standalone driver as such) to enable it to be used with Windows. That's what Panasonic is quite rightly telling you. For that reason, I very much doubt a standalone driver exists for it. Last edited by pip22; 12-22-2006 at 12:47 PM. |
