Looking for driver for Philips optical mouse
Hi everyone,
I have a Philips optical mouse. I can't tell what the model number is. On its bottom, it has a number "WUG3MS12S/93" and its S/N is WE000602501992. Those are the only two numbers on the mouse. It is a two button mouse, with a vertical scroller which can be clicked. I've been looking all over the web (including the Philips website) for this mouse's driver, cos I want to be able to use the click function of the scroller. The Philips website doesn't have the driver for this. The mouse did not come with any driver or instruction manual. Is there anywhere I can find a Philips mouse driver? Alternatively, is there any generic mouse driver that I can use that will enable me to assign the scroller click to a double-click action? Thanks for the help, Multiplex |

Hi Dai,
Thanks. I've tried that already. I'm using a Dell laptop, so most of the Mouse options relate to my Touchpad. I've gone through all the options but I don't see anything that allows me to configure my wheel button. Any other suggestions? Thanks. |

Very unlikely you will find XP drivers for it as XP has native support for this type of mouse. As Dai suggested, check your mouse settings in control panel (make sure you select the correct mouse) and you should find the wheel settings there. Most Microsoft software (and a lot of other software) has support for a scroll wheel and middle mouse button. Can you turn the touchpad off in the BIOS setup? If so, try that and see what options you get for your mouse then.
You could also try using TweakUI (for XP) from MS to set the mouse up (works very well).

If Windows doesn't know it's there then adding drivers won't make any difference. I wouldn't recommend that course of action. What actually happens if you press the middle button in, say, IE of Firefox? What should happen is that the mouse "anchors" to a particular point and then you can scroll up and down by using an up/down motion with the mouse.

Great start! Now, if you move the wheel (not whilst anchored) does it scroll the page up and down?

Using it to select (I assume that's why you'd want to double-click it) is generally controlled by the particular piece of software you are using. For example, on my system I use the middle button in Firefox to force a link to open in a new tab (or window). I'm sure that there are many other uses for it but the point is that it's controlled by the software you are currently using, not the driver or Windows.

I used to have an A4Tech mouse that had a middle button that I could configure using the A4Tech software to do a whole lot of functions, including double-click. Alas, I've searched high and low and can't find it anymore.
That's interesting. I didn't know that particular software could configure the mouse buttons. I'm curious...how did you configure Firefox to open links in new tabs. I'd like to do that too. |

It's generally not configurable but built in to the software. In the case of Firefox if you used the "Tabbrowser Prefences" extension it has an option for what you want to do with the middle button. You can set it to open links in a new tab when middle clicked. Works very very well.

I used to face this problem with older versions of Windows. I solved it by downloading and installing either the old Genius driver or the Logitech MouseWare drivers. Both enabled customizable clicking and the scroll feature when it wasn't native. I have dial-up so I can't immediately tell you if the current version does the same, but I will give you this link. Tell me if it works out:
http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/do...contentid=6003 Click download and it should start it immediately. -Eddie
