Video Driver?
hi i just got my computer reformatted and have been having a problem
i've been trying to try out this new game i bought to install after i got my computer reformated but every time i try to open it, it asks me to either download directX or update my video driver i already downloaded DirectX 9 (wich i think is the most up to date one) and reinstalled my video driver using my "Application and driver recovery" disk that came with the labtop to use when i reformat my computer. so i google for a couple minutes to find out how to update my video driver and they always tell me to first find what mine is called by going to settings in display properties but all it says is Display: (Default Monitor) on and i also noticed i cant change my screen resolution wich i think is the same reason as not being able to start up full screen games. how can i update my video driver ? or turn "default monitor" off ? |

check the bios settings are correct, have you loaded the chipset drivers
default monitor is normal it is not the video listing, that is seperate, you will not see the video card listed until you get the driver installed go to the laptop makers download page and see if there is one listed for d/l there

A good website for drivers (particuarly nVidia) is http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/ which supports the nVidia range of cards particularly the Go. I have used this without any problems in the past, but cannot attest to all drivers working on all machines. I suggest you backup and take the regular precautions (security etc) before you install. Also, if nVidia, you must uninstall previous versions to ensure trouble free operation. Check it out. Otherwise what is your card manufacturer? Model no etc?
