No Internet After New Hard-Drive

I recently had a problem with my hard drive, and a friend switched it for me. We re-installed Windows XP on the hard-drive, and everything about that went well EXCEPT the internet. There was the yellow question mark next to the ethernet driver, and there are no drivers on the startup CD. I don't have the ability to download a driver from the internet, as my computer doesn't even make it that far. My friend is less baffled than I, but still clueless to the actual cause and subsequent solution. I am completely clueless when it comes to the technical side of computer operations. He suggested that there may be a problem with my motherboard. Does this sound familiar to anyone? And can anyone give me advice on how to fix it, tests to run, etc.? The technical info I have at this moment is:

motherboard: M/B D865GIGL (or M/B D865GLGL...I can't really tell as the computer case is kind of old. I got it from my friend, and it is a bit smudged).
Sound 801985
LAN Intel Pro
VGA Intel Graphic

I can find out whatever else is needed. Please help as soon as possible! I am going nuts not having access to the internet in Korea! Especially because I have to go to a PC room and pay money per hour!

Thanks

Dave

My System

Greetings Lohmand, and Welcome to TSF!

It sounds as though you are missing the Motherboard Drivers.

For us to give you a more accurate guide, we will need to know the exact make/model of your board, and whether you are running Windows® Xp Home or Professional.

Please post back with this information.

Motherboards

I'll check on that...however, before I had switched hard drives, the internet was working fine. Here's the story:

One day two months ago, I was sitting around and decided to reboot my computer. Then, as I tried to turn it on, it didn't work. I was going to Italy for a month, so I didn't really mind. However, now that I'm back, I have been getting frustrated. So how would the motherboard have been effected? Would a problem with the hard drive carry over to the motherboard? Or would it have a reversed effect (motherboard affecting the hard drive)?

thanks...

Dave

PS, where would I find the exact make and model? I Suppose this is good because I am learning something about computers...maybe.
