Am i missing a Fan?
Hi, i have only one fan in my computer, and thats on the CPU, temps still stay pretty low, in the medium to low 30's, and medium to high 30's when playing a demanding game, like Counter-Strike:Source or somthing of that nature. but shouldnt there be another fan at the back blowing air out? there are holes drilled in the case and a grate in the spot where it looks like one should be, should i buy one? Thanks.

That's a decent CPU temp but keep in mind that your single fan is right on the CPU and will keep it and only it cool. There is also an exhaust fan in your PSU but in my opinion, other parts may be getting too hot even if it doesn't have symptoms of overheating. I would highly recommend adding a case fan or two. An intake in the front and/or side, and an exhaust in the back and/or top should do just fine.
My case actually came with 7 fans and I added one. Sounds like overkill but it's a nice silent setup. Two intakes in the front, two in the back, exhaust in the side, top and PSU. They run at low voltage so they are quiet and I can crank them up for extra cooling power when I need to. Even a small thermal improvement can extend the life of all of your equipment. Fans are cheap so have at it! And don't forget dust filters on the intakes. Tim Last edited by timk9; 03-07-2006 at 06:00 AM. |

All the temps in my computer itself are normal for any computer, nothing looking bad, but just to be positive i will add an intake and an exhaust.
i don't feel like going to one of those big computer stores, none of them are close to my part of the city, will the fan in the below link do both jobs? http://www.bestbuy.ca/catalog/proddetail.asp?logon=&langid=EN&sku_id=0926INGFS10056141&catid=20378&PCName=# Thanks. Your temps are actually quite good. I would worry about any additional fans unless you need them to ease your mind. Just be sure to keep good house keeping in your case to keep the debris down.
