Changing Case - Advice Sought
Hi everyone! New to this forum - please forgive if I'm beating a dead horse on this question...
I have a Dell 8250 that I recently replaced with a new Dell 531. I'd like to take the 8250, clean it out, gut it and put it into a new, smaller case. I would then like to put this into a smaller location in my kitchen (properly ventilated, of course). Goal is to wire in the monitor and use a wireless keyboard and mouse and use this as the "Kitchen" computer for accessing _____ (kitchen related stuff). As opposed to hunting all through the internet for info on the best way to do this, I wanted to start with people who would know. Any help/advice is appreciated. Thanks |

Re: Changing Case - Advice Sought
Changing the original case to a smaller case might not be a good idea. However if you can find a smaller PSU, and if the case provides proper ventilation so that none of the components are overheating. I see no problem with you changing the case to smaller one

Re: Changing Case - Advice Sought
Thanks, Jarod. I agree if the power, ventilation and cooling is considered properly, it should be no problem.
To be clearer about the advice I'm looking for, it's probably a place I can go to where it maybe explains in some detail how to go about a conversion of this type. For example, what type of motherboard do I have in my 8250? What case would accommodate that board? What kind of power supply do I need in the case to support the board? etc. |

Re: Changing Case - Advice Sought
its an ATX motherboard. that actually kinda sucks because ATX cases dont get that small but there are a few. http://www.performance-pcs.com/catal...oducts_id=3020 is probably what your looking for. you can use the current psu that dell has given you (as much as it pains me to say that) but if you upgrade anything, even if its ram, GET SOMETHING ELSE
