Power Supply?
Hi,
I'm getting an Intel Core i5-750 on a Gigabyte GA-P55M-UD2 board; with 4GB DDR3 RAM and an ATI HD 4890. I'll be sticking a DVD writer in and at least one HDD. Can anyone recommend a PSU? I'm looking at a 600W but I'm not confident that it'll be powerful enough if I want to add components. What could I get away with? Thanks. |

Re: Power Supply?
When talking about PSUs, never ask "what can I get away with". Ask, "how much am I willing to pay to ensure the future stability of my parts".
A quality 750W would be best. The Corsair TX 750W is a great deal at $110, but it has a couple of flaws. Still one of the best out there for the price, though. I was going to recommend the SeaSonic S12D 750W for $160, but then I realized that the Corsair TX 950W is available for the same price. You could get away with a quality 650W. The Corsair TX 650W, like the TX 750W, is one of the best for the money. No matter what, you shouldn't be spending less than ~$100 on a PSU for a system like that.

Re: Power Supply?
I would say at least a 650W minimum for the computer alone, but if you plan on adding components in the future, I would suggest a 750 or 850W (as long as its not another video card)
Only a $20 difference between the Corsair 750 and 850 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817139006 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817139009 |
