Graphics Card Selection
Hi.
I'm looking for a new graphics card for my PC but i'm not sure which i should buy. Currently i have a XFX Nvidia Geforce 8500GT 1GB: http://www.amazon.co.uk/XFX-Nvidia-E.../dp/B0012EIP2I Its pretty old now and i need an upgrade. I've been thinking of trying out ATI. Could you suggest a good ATI card for me between £100-£150. I use ebuyer to buy my parts. http://www.ebuyer.com/ I have a corsair 850W TX Series PSU, so i think that should be enough to handle a good powerful one. http://www.ebuyer.com/product/152604 Thanks! :)

Re: Graphics Card Selection
What motherboard do you have?
In your price range you could get a decent Radeon 4800 or 5700 series card. The Radeon 5770: http://www.ebuyer.com/product/175731 or 4890: http://www.ebuyer.com/product/164567 would be your best options.

Re: Graphics Card Selection
Ok yeah, so a 5770 or 4890 should work perfectly.
In regards to your other question... I'm not sure how much fps improvement you'll see, but I moved from a 9500GT to a 4870 and went from being able to play Fallout 3 on medium-low settings at 1440x900 to being able to play at max settings at 1440x900. So moving from an 8500GT to a 5770 or 4890 should see even better results. The 5770 is a bit weaker than the 4890, about on par with the 4870. However, as ATI gets out new drivers and games start to use DX11 capabilities the 5770 will eventually end up at the same performance as the 4890, give or take. However the 4890 will give you better performance now.
