My System

Need some advise on building a system

I'm going to build a PC with budget of $1100. Here is my specs:

Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo E7500-$120
Mainboard: Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3L-$100
RAM: 2X2GB Kingston DDR2 800Mhz-$78
HDD: Western Digital 320GB 16MB-$44
Video Card: Sapphire Radeon HD5850-$270
Casing: Cooler Master HAF 922-$110
Monitor: Samsung 2043SWXT-$120
OS: Windows Vista Home Premium-$115
PSU: Cooler Master UCP 700W-$150

Total :$1107

I just want to consult whether should I get the Core i5 and P55 chipset and use a Radeon HD 5770 instead of the current system now? Many people said that I should go with the Core i5 but my system is for gaming, wouldn't a weaker video card reduce my system performance?

Feel free to post a recommended system for gaming.

For gaming I would go with a faster Hdd. The WD Black Series use a 32MB Cache.
OCZ-Corsair-G.Skill are better performance RAM.
Windoes 7 is MUCH better than Vista.
Personally, at this time, I would go with the 775 build.

yep at this time there is no need in i5s and i7s, ddr 3 is expensive and not as fast as it will be in a year or two.

Re: Need some advise on building a system

Means I just need to get a faster RAM and HDD and stay with my current specs right?

I want to ask that will this build work? Is there any incompatibilities within the components?

Re: Need some advise on building a system

Not faster RAM just better performance RAM like the brands I suggested.
Windows 7 instead of Vista.
A better PSU would be the CORSAIR 750W for less money.

Yes, the build will work and the parts are compatible.

Most of the 'High Performance' RAM are way more expansive than my current one. Is it ok to go with the 2GB Corsair Dominator?

Forgot to mention that the OS should be Windows 7 and not Vista.

A 2 X 1GB PC6400 matched pair of Corsair would be fine.

Re: Need some advise on building a system

I still have another problem. I chose the HD 5850 because it supports DirectX 11. Is there any difference between the Direct X 10.1 cards? Will DirectX 10.1 cards run DirectX 11 games?
