New motherboard causing problems?

This is my current set up to the best of my knowledge.

Gigabyte GA-EP35-DS4 iP35 Socket 775 8 channel audio ATX Motherboard

EXDISPLAY Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 G0 Stepping (2.4GHz 1066MHz) Socket 775 L2 8MB Cache (2x4MB (4MB per core pair) Retail Boxed Processor

Casecom Black Mid Tower Case - Front Blue LED 120mm Fan - With Side Window

Maxtor STM3500418AS 500GB Hard Drive SATAII 7200rpm 16MB Cache - OEM - Not sure if this is the one.

XFX 8800GS 384MB DDR3 XXX Edition (680MHz) Dual DVI TV Out PCI-E Graphics Card

Corsair 2GB (2x1GB) DDR2 800MHz/PC2-6400 XMS2 Memory Kit Non-ECC Unbuffered CL5 1.9V - not too sure tbh.. might be OCZ

& some HP 2x 1gb ram.. I cant find the info on that.

Since the gigabyte went I bought another motherboard which is..

Asus P5Q Deluxe P45 Socket 775 8 Channel Audio ATX Motherboard

But will all of that go with this motherboard? because I heard that the corsair ram doesnt really go with the Asus I think.

Re: New motherboard causing problems?

Yes all that will "go" with the Asus board you just bought. Although I am unsure why you bought the asus board when you had the EP35 gigabyte board ? I hope you are not looking for a performance enhancement when the EP35 will run shoulder to shoulder with the P5Q deluxe?

your money would have been better spent IMHO on an after market cpu cooler / some decent overclockign memory and a faster video card

IMHO; overclock that Q6600 to about 3.2ghz and add 260GTX / ATI 4870 and it would act like a new rig

Re: New motherboard causing problems?

I have never had, or heard, of Asus Mobo's having any problems with Corsair or OCZ RAM. I have heard and seen mixing RAM brands cause issues.
Posting the problems you are having would be helpful.

Ohh sorry forgot to mention that the Gigabyte doesnt work no more. However I popped down to the shop yesterday and we took the Asus mobo out and it worked and what was causing problems was the case. Somehow also yeh hopefully if they Gigabyte works then I'll upgrade to that graphics board and also overclock.

The problem was that whenever I pressed the on button it would start then switch off with the Gigabyte board. The tech said that it happened with the asus motherboard too.

Now you know the Mobo's aren't at fault.

Re: New motherboard causing problems?

Yeh sorta the tech is still to check the Gigabyte. Also @ linderman I don't think I can afford to cool it that much and clock it to 3.2ghz...

I have had no trouble cooling the Q6600 overclocked to 3.0 / 3.2ghz with standard air cooler like the zalman 9700
