I have an e310 in which i put in max hard drive, mem cards, and a fx5200 that it'll take as a pci, and need MORE !
What motherboard, power supply, and vid card would work in this mess at an affordable price.
For games like "bioshock"," farcry", etc.
I know dells a bad word, but i gotta keep in a budget.
Windows xp media
not sure how to attach my system spec's ,so i let it go

Re: pumping up a dell

If you change the Mobo you will need a CPU to go with it. Add a graphics card and PSU and you might as well build a new PC.
Do you have a budget in mind?
Have a look at this thread for some ideas and prices.

Re: pumping up a dell

Dell uses proprietary cases and motherboards for a standard ATX board you'll need a new case.
The Hard and DVD drives will move over the OS may not.
What budget number are you looking at?

Re: pumping up a dell

I'm trying to sneak in around $400 around the wife. They dont make a pci card that can do this do they? Also someone said something about a 'piggyback" on the vid card ? I've done the memory cards ,cd drives, and harddrive myself, but thats as far as i go on matching other stuff up.
Also how do i attatch my dxdiag for this forum.
I was checking ebay and they have some pretty much made gamin puters for around that amt,"BUT" who knows if it's about to smoke, right ?

Re: pumping up a dell

No PCI graphic cards are not very powerful, you only have 2 PCI and 1 PCIe x1 slot on the motherboard so your kind of end of the upgrades with a P4 CPU it won't be worth doing too much more to it as the 915 chipset won't take a newer CPU.

To build and decent gaming PC your going to be in the $800 range less will either be missing quality components or simply under spec'ed, > see this link for your standard recommendations Want to Build A New Intel or AMD Computer? Here are 6 suggested models with Spec

Re: pumping up a dell

I don't think this is the case. Using some old parts from the dell, you may be able to squeeze a gaming PC for a bit under that daunting $800 price. I spent a bit under $600 on mine, and plays all the new games perfectly.

Granted, this isn't your budget, but with a stretch of the imagination I'm sure you can do it.

Re: pumping up a dell

You *can* build a "decent" gaming computer for ~$650, including OS. That will buy you a Pentium Dual Core CPU, a decent P43 motherboard, a Radeon 4670 or similar graphics card, 4GB DDR2 800, a 500GB hard drive, an Antec 300 case, and Windows Vista/7 Home Premium.
