My System

looking for some build advice

I need to build a computer that is gonna be used for graphic arts type work...

I'm trying to keep cost down I'm looking for something around 600 and also another around 1000.

For graphics arts a quad core would do better, the stock heat sink will work just fine so save the cost on that and switch to Q9550.

I would also opt for 2x2gig of ram.

What OS are you thinking of using?

I could go 3gb her software isn't 64bit capable.
xp pro im letting them take care of the os.

2x2 is easier and more stable for the system then 2x1 and 2x512, windows will show around 3.2-3.5Gig as available.

I'd go with a WD Hdd instead of the Samsung. The Black Series has a 32MBCache and 5 yr. warranty.
LG or Lite-On for the DVDRW.
Ditto on the suggestions for the CPU & RAM that wrench97 suggested.
