To Trash or Not

Replaced Hard Drive - Twice!! As per Dell Tech support.
New HD - WC Caviar SE 250 GB SATA 7200 RPM 16 MB 3.5 LP
Installed 2 ea. Corsair 2 GB ( 2x1 ) DDR2xMS2-6400 ( Part # 2x2048-6400 )
Attempted New Install with Dell ( New Sealed ) supplied Windows XP Pro SP2
Will not complete install. Never get past - ( Inputting Language, time, passwords ) ,etc. Then get Blue Screen Error Message.

Please see attached original computer setup. Or use service tag # to view.
All original hardware, with the exception of the CD - DVD driver.

I am not looking for tech support to help with install, Tried that already on another sight, ( I dont have error codes at this time ) On the Road!

I am looking for suggestions if i decide to keep this computer and salvage what ever i can, keeping in mind i have purchased Hard Drive, 4 GB memory and both the install CD and Driver CD.

Dell said its probably my motherboard now.

Should i spend money on this as well, considering original equipment limitations, if not please suggest / list compartable componets for new build.

My budget is very low considering this computer is not 100% necessary at this time. ( Have Co. Laptop - Sibling Laptop - Sibling Desktop ).

I only would use it for email, shopping, downloading camera pic's. I have DSL connection. So the old setup worked fine until it crashed. ( Let Anti-Virus software subscription runout ). Big Mistake!!!

Everything i have read so far is that Dell uses their own unique cases for present setup and MB screw patterns, etc.

Please excuse the long rambling post. Also what I know about computer repair and building so far is replacing HD and memory, DVD drive etc. and what i have read or forums like this.

Appreciate any insite and help.

Re: To Trash or Not

BSOD is probably a hardware issue. Posting the Error Code from the BSOD would help.
