Descent gaming computer build help
Need help with building a new computer. It is going to be used for Gaming and Multitasking, and i would like it $600 to $700 give or take. I do not need a monitor right at this moment. Maybe a sound and wireless card? I would appreciate if someone could tell me what parts i should get. Possibly could hit up neweggs labor day sale, if they do that

Just specced a $700 build, no monitor, for these fine fellows, should work for you perfectly: Build under $700

Re: Descent gaming computer build help
I've had bad experiences with wireless cards... In my opinion it's better to just buy a length of CAT5 cable.

Re: Descent gaming computer build help
Should last you quite a while. The only way to make it more future-proof is to get an LGA1366 (Intel Core i7) board, which is out of your price range. However this board will support almost all Core 2 Duo and Core 2 Quad CPUs.

Re: Descent gaming computer build help
Cool....And i really need wireless. lol. where i am living i would have to take the CatV and take it pretty much across the house and up stairs. It would just kind of be a pain and look funky in the house. Cause it is a older house.....so it only has a telephone jack in my room. lol

Re: Descent gaming computer build help
![]() Ok, apparently I left out the CPU somehow when tallying that up. *grumblemumble* Ok, drop the CPU to a Pentium Dual Core E6300 and the graphics card to a Radeon 4850 and that should fit into $700 or a smidgen over.

Re: Descent gaming computer build help
It will be a little bit slower in games, you'll still be able to play most things on ultra-high, but maybe at a lower framerate, you might notice occasional lag spikes in some games. Still a fairly powerful gaming computer.

Re: Descent gaming computer build help
I have a 25 meter cat 5 cable which I got for £4.50 from a place that makes all sorts of cables :) I don't like all this wireless crap thats why I got it.
Have look at some building merchants in your area you will find a big long cable for next to nothing if you look carefully.

Re: Descent gaming computer build help
Ya but im not about to buy a really long cable and have it go all throughout the house on the ground or staple up on the cealing, and i am not about to drill holes through the wall for this. lol it will be easier to have a wireless card until i move.

Re: Descent gaming computer build help
That's a good one. Alternately, this will give similar performance:
