i want to build a basic tablet pc...

the specs will be at least...

1GHz Processor
1GB of RAM
4GB of Flash Memory
7-12 inches touchscreen
with I/O ports such as USB, VGA, LAN port...

It will probably run on windows xp or linux OS...
It will run a web browser and office apps...

pls help me how will i start...
Any ideas, comments and suggestions are very much appreciated...

Buy a prebuilt. They can be had for about $200.

They're for sale everywhere. Check your local newspaper Sunday ads.
It is possible to build your own.

Im a computer engineering student...

I am knowledgeable in computer architectures, electronics, computer concepts, new technologies so i have no problem with knowledge in skills...

i just need help on how will i start and where can i get the components that i need...

i have searched the internet but its so hard to find about these things...

there are no DIY tutorials about tablet pc...

The real sticking point is the touchscreen and the laptop format. Laptop cases, motherboards, and graphics cards can be a pain to find at a decent price--most just get sold OEM to the companies that assemble them. Your best bet would be to buy a barebones kit, but those are ridiculously priced for the hardware they give you--they often cost more than a complete laptop. And as for the touchscreen, I have no idea whatsoever.
