Ooops, help please.
Hello.
Alright, so today i received my motherboard and PSU in the mail. I ordered a Gigabyte GA-MA770T-UD3P AM3 Motherboard and a Corsiar 450W PSU. This is the problem, when i was taking the PSU out of the box i dropped it at a height of about 4ft or 5ft on to carpeted floor. Ive hooked everything up, excluding RAM, and the system doesn't power up. I'm getting RAM, but i expected the PSU to at least power up the motherboard and CPU. I read through the manual of the motherboard and it says it recommends a 500W PSU or greater to take advantage of all the expansion slots. But I'm only using one of the slots, for my Radeon 4670 graphics card. And all the PSU calculator sites say i should be fine with a 418W or greater. Could the reason why its not powering be because i dropped it and need to get a new one or because i need a higher wattage PSU? My system: Phenom II x3 2.6 CPU 3GB DDR3 RAM 320GB HDD ABS APLUS Full Tower Case Radeon 4670 Graphics Card(Factory overclocked) DVD-CD Player Gigabyte GA-MA770T-UD3P Corsair 450W PSU Windows Vista 64-bit Thanks |

Re: Ooops, help please.
Between being underpowered to begin with and being dropped . . it's time for a new PSU!
please look at our Power Supply Selection posting:

Re: Ooops, help please.
Would my setup be in the "standard" or "power pc" bracket? The psu calculator put me around 438W needed. In other forums i was informed that being dropped wasnt a big deal because the psu is made pretty sturdy.

Re: Ooops, help please.
Probably Standard . . although I go high when deciding.
Something is wrong . . you can test the power supply: Test your power supply with a multi meter

Re: Ooops, help please.
Any of the ones in our list will do . . Corsair is a good brand.
If the Power Suppply checks out, you can use the troubleshooting steps in the Bench Test link in my isgnature
