Yes it will all work together well. However I think you could do better in the power department.> http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817703009

Hmm... I really want a modular power supply, I think they are nice. Give me your opinion. I will probably be ordering this in the next week or so or when the PA Budget is approved.

Re: Will this setup play all the newer games?

A Dual Core CPU is really a better choice for gaming and DDR2800 RAM would be fine also.
The 700W OCZ ModStreanm CPU's had some problems. You could check the OCZ forum and see if they have been resolved. Personally, I would go with Seasonic or Corsair.

Re: Will this setup play all the newer games?

The Intel Core 2 Duo E7xxx and E8xxx CPUs are good for gaming. The perennial favorite on this forum seems to be the E8400/E8500, though if you want to save some money the E7400 will work just fine as well.

The GTX260 is good for gaming, though if you save some money by going for a dual core processor you can up it to a GTX275...

Re: Will this setup play all the newer games?

I think I'm going to be subbing in:
OCZ 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit - 52.99
and
BFG Tech BFGEGTX275896OCE GeForce GTX 275 - 229.99

It's a little more than I wanna pay, but I want this comp to last a few years.
I also think I would like to stay with the Quad Processor just for pure future-proofing.
I know i7 is out, but still, at least when more things are able to use Quad Core technology, I will still be relevant.

Give me any feedback you can. I'd be more than happy to hear it.

Oh, and I also will be subbing in the Corsair Power Supply. I will give up the Modular for a better name.

Modular PSU's are nice to have but they are usually 50% more than a PSU of the same caliber.

Any more opinions about the Core 2 Duo or Core 2 Quad?

Re: Will this setup play all the newer games?

I would go with an E8400 over the Q9550 and use the $50 savings to buy an aftermarket CPU cooler and overclock it up to 3.8GHz... but that's just me. The quad core will work fine if you want it that way.

Re: Will this setup play all the newer games?

I'm torn more and more Currently the E8500 is the way to go it OC's better then the Quad(cooler) but with all the quads out currently and coming out sooner or later the software has to catch up. The faster clock speed on the dual will be better for gaming for sometime to come, I keep watching the price of the Q9650 myself if it gets down to $250 then the answer becomes easier. Or if you do video/graphics rendering /editing the Q9550/Q9650 is the way to go in a Gaming/rendering PC.

Hm.... I am confused as to what to do... I do do some video editing and 3d rendering. Nothing hardcore, just some poser and stuff like that.

Re: Will this setup play all the newer games?

If it's high end programs like Adobe CS4 Audition then go Quad for other programs and gaming the E8500 will be just fine.
