Is this a good computer

Hope this is the right section to post this, but I am getting ready to get a new computer. I found the Dell Inspirion 546s for a good price, includes 24 inch wide screen monitor, but was wondering how good a system is it. I mainly use mine for games.

Also, how upgradable is it, it says it has 8gb of shared memory, is that good, not for sure about shared memory. I know I would have to upgrade the video card right away, but not sure about the motherboard in this system.

any information would be great.

Thanks

Re: Is this a good computer

Dell's are proprietary and not good upgrade candidates for normal use as spec'd you get what you pay for. When it comes to upgrading Video Cards you will also need a power supply, both doable but when it's all said and done a custom build will serve you longer and be exactly what you want from the start.

Dell makes good value PC's but what you buy is pretty much you will live with. Upgrading can run into a lot of money and even more headaches.

Re: Is this a good computer

Isn't that a slim case? If so, it's not gaming friendly. Pretty much shuts the door on video card upgrades, gaming cards don't fit in small form factor cases.
