First time builder needs assistance

I am doing my first build, mostly from parts except for the motherboard. Would like to turn this into a hobby but I didnt want to invest a lot of money at first.

I did the famous bench test, it the fans started running but no picture to the screen.

I tried this test with another motherboard and did get a picture on the monitor, so that rules out monitor problems. This board had a monitor imput built it, not like the first that required a video card.

Parts I am using...

Foxconn 648X7MF-S motherboard (w/LAN)

Intel Celeron D 3.2 GHx

...and Ive tried both of these video cards...

ATI AIW7500 64 MDDR (purchased in 2001 i think)

ASUS AGP V3800M 32M SDRAM (came this a 2001 HP I believe)

I've invested only 15 for the board and 17 for the processor, video cards are from another computer

What would be my next logical step to get this thing going ?

Thanks in advance for your help

Glen

Try disabling the Onboard Video in the Bios.

Re: First time builder needs assistance

I cant set up the BIOS if there is no signal to the monitor, or did you mean something else. Thanks! Glen

No, that's what I meant but I was thinking the Mobo that the graphics worked on. My bad!
If all hardware was the same when you used the Mobo and Graphics card, then I would assume the Foxconn's Onboard Graphics or the Mobo itself is bad.

Re: First time builder needs assistance

I guessing that The Foxcomm board had no graphic capabilites since it did not have a place to plug in the monitor on it, which is why I added the card. My guess is that the mobo is bad. (Could it be the Celeron chip?) Thanks for your advise, you've been very helpful. Thank you again.

Re: First time builder needs assistance

I think I'm getting confused as to what parts you are trying to assemble. and I apologize for any confusion that I may have caused you. I think I have it now.
If you are trying to install the Intel Celeron D 3.2 GHx onto the Foxconn 648X7MF-S motherboard, that's the problem. The Foxconn Mobo will not accept the Celeron Dual Core CPU.
CPU's that it will accept:
Intel Pentium (prescott) 800MHz 3.0G
Intel Pentium (prescott) 800MHz 3.2G
Intel Pentium (prescott) 800MHz 3.6G
Intel Celeron -D 533MHz 2.93G
Intel Celeron -D 533MHz 3.06G
Intel Pentium (prescott) 800MHz 3.4G

You can download the Mobo manual here;

Re: First time builder needs assistance
