First Build PC, want second opinion
Hello,
This is going to be my first build, im thinking of getting the parts in about two months, so i know some of these won't be the best. im looking to build a computer almost purely for gaming, and editing, basically the highest performance possible. I've repaired and rebuilt older computers, so i'm good with the hardware, i'm just not as good a judge about newer parts. I've totaled the build to around $2400 money isn't really an object as long as it stays less than 3500-4000, but basically i want the best The items marked with (NE) are newegg, (CU) Comp USA (CR) Crucial. i don't know of any other hardware vendors, so tips are welcome Case AZZA Solano 1000 Black/Black Japanese SECC Steel/Metal mesh in front ATX Full Tower Computer Case (NE) 109.99 Motherboard ASUS P6T7 WS Supercomputer LGA 1366 Intel X58 CEB Intel Motherboard(NE) 49.99 Processor Intel Core i7-950 Bloomfield 3.06GHz 4 x 256KB L2 Cache 8MB L3 Cache LGA 1366 130W Quad-Core Processor (NE) 569.99 Hard Drive Western Digital Caviar Black WD6401AALS 640GB 7200 RPM 32MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive (NE) 74.99 Optical Drive LG GH22NS50 DVD Writer - DVD+R 22x, DVD+RW 8X, DVD-RW 6x, DVD-RAM 12x, SATA (CU) 29.99 Video Card Dual: XFX GX295NHWFF GeForce GTX 295 1792MB 896 (448 x 2)-bit DDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Supported Video Card (NE) 1019.98 RAM 6GB kit (2GBx3), 240-pin DIMM, DDR3 PC3-8500 memory module (CR) 101.99 OS Windows 7 Ultimate (?) ~150 Cooling CoolIT SYSTEMS Domino A.L.C Advanced Liquid Cooling (NE) 79.99 Power Supply CORSAIR CMPSU-750TX 750W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS Certified Active PFC Compatible with Core i7 Power Supply (NE) 119.99 Sound Card Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi XtremeGamer 7.1 Channels 24-bit 96KHz PCI Interface Sound Card (NE) 81.99 TOTAL: 2388.89 |

Re: First Build PC, want second opinion
Things can change a lot in two months.
I'm FAR from sold on i7 so I'll let someone else comment on that. That Mobo is overkill. You posted "Dual" graphics cards. Waste of money. One quality card is all you need. The case you listed looks solid but you can do better for the money. Have a look at CooerMaster and Antec. XFX brand...so-so quality and bad support. For Nvida, go with EVGA, Asus,MSI or Gigabyte.
