advice on building a raid tower
this is my first time trying anything with raid and i was looking into getting a raid tower (drobo or pc-pitstops port multiplier) when people were telling me to just build my own.
im building this tower for my own personal use to store all my music. i was trying to do a raid5 with at least 10tb of usuable space. could some1 give me some suggestion if buidling this would be better than just buying a pre built one. And if building one is the way i should go i need some suggestions on which motherboard and expansion cards i should get. Another thing is i keep heard from some people that any drive over 1tb isnt really good for raid bc of reliability issues. is this true? |

Re: advice on building a raid tower
While self building does give you more choice, flexibility and configuration options, it's hard to beat a Drobo Pro for the price.
There's nothing wrong with > 1TB RAID arrays. Probably what you've heard is related to Windows MBR and GPT tables.

Re: advice on building a raid tower
well since your recommending a drobo, do you happen to know if there is an advantage of getting a drobo pro over 3 drobos bc for the price of the pro that comes with 8 bays i could get 3 regular drobos with 12 bays total
