Questions About Possible Build (Noob alert)
Here is what I have compiled.

Is anything missing? I wanted to build my own computer so I could get better quality for my money so I value all opinions. I will be using the computer for MMORPG games like Lord of the Rings Online and WoW. Titles like Assassin's Creed and Morrowind as well. I would like to be able to take full advantage of graphics. Other uses include hobby video editing. About the OS, should I buy Vista and then upgrade to Win 7? Also are there any additional cables I need to buy in order to set this up? (Some stuff is OEM but I wasn't sure if other parts came with required cables.) Any comments on equivalent hardware that are better priced but same performance also welcome. Thanks in advance.

Re: Questions About Possible Build (Noob alert)
All in all, looks like very nice specs. That'll run anything, and run it well.
Excellent price on the video card, only thing is that the warranty is two years, instead of the lifetime on the AR cards. For that you'd have to go up to the 285, which is a tad pricier, or down to the 275. Download the windows7 RC, it's good till sometime next year, then buy a copy at your leisure. The RC expires on June the 1st of next year, not sure if it has the two hour shutdown for a couple months before that. Looked at the email from ms, they don't mention the shutdown for the RC like they did for the beta. The motherboard will come with sata cables and an ide cable. Unless you're like me and have a lot of drives, you won't need any extra for one each of the burner and hdd flavours. Looks like it comes with four sata cables by the picture at newegg.

Re: Questions About Possible Build (Noob alert)
Thank you for your response.
I'm glad it is all good to go. I'll start ordering now and try to get the Win7 on a cd so I don't go past the download exp. date. That will work right? If I don't get the computer running before the end of July? |

Re: Questions About Possible Build (Noob alert)
You can pre-order Windows 7 Upgrade disc ($50 & $100) until July 11 from Newegg and some other online vendors.

Re: Questions About Possible Build (Noob alert)
You can use the upgrade disc, but must do a clean install with xp. Vista you can upgrade, as long as it's the same level of OS, ie: Vista ultimate can only be upgraded with win7 ultimate, otherwise a clean install must be performed.
For the OP - As long as you download the iso and get a key code from ms before it's finished, you can install anytime, no rush. Up till the RC expires anyway.
