Air flow with new heatsink

Okay so my case is an Antec 300 you can see here
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811129042

I just purchased a Zalman CNPS9500 shown here
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16835118003

And as I was installing it I was not sure if i should have the heat blowing up out my 140mm fan or out the back through the 120mm fan. I am just curious what everyones opinion is on what would be most efficient before installing. Oh and I also purchased a new 120mm fan for the side of my case and I'm not sure if that should be an intake or an exhaust. Thank you for your time.

Re: Air flow with new heatsink

the heat from the heatsink is best to be expelled out the back case fan ....... thats the most efficient

side fan = intake

front case fan = intake

back case fan = exaust

top of case fans = exaust

Re: Air flow with new heatsink

Thank you very much. I had a nice drop in temps by 40c down to 20c idle with new setup. Excited to see how it performs underload.

Re: Air flow with new heatsink

I'm using an aftermarket CPU cooler in a Antec 300 and I have it blowing up toward the 140MM fan. Originally had it blowing toward the back and wanted to try it blowing up to test it. Temps remained the same.

Re: Air flow with new heatsink

as long as the heatsink air isnt moving towards the front of the case .........youll be fine

we had a fella on here not to long ago that was having heat problems........he had his exaust leaving the front of the case and the fresh air entering the back ......... we couldnt wake him up no matter how hard we tried, then about the time we all gave up on him, he switched things around the correct way .........fresh / cool air entering the front and hot air out the back; the OP's temps dropped over 10C ! and his hard drives were no longer used for cooking his eggs in the morning !
