New build processor info

my new build with
intel core2 duo is showing
E8400 @3.00GHZ
1.98 GHz, 3.25 GB of RAM

yesterday it was showing the right information at 3.00 GHz, 3.25 GB of RAM. could this be a problem with the processor? Please help me

Sounds like Intel SpeedStep. It drops the multiplier when there is no need for speed. Normally, the E8400 is 333 x 9, speedstep drops the multi to 6. 333 x 6 = 1998. It can be disabled in the bios, if you so desire. It'll either be called by the full name, or EIST, depends on the bios. Either way it's no biggie, the speed will be there when you need it. I disable it, makes things a tad easier when overclocking.

I leave speed stepping enabled.....it saves a little electricity and the speed is still there when you need it.

The RAM downgrade is proabably due to you running 32bit system which cannot utilise 4gb of RAM which is what I assume you have.
